What we do
Construction lien help, and the filings around it
Most popular
Notice of Intent to Lien
Our most popular service. A Notice of Intent to Lien (NOI) tells the owner, contractor or supplier on a residential or commercial project what happens if they do not pay: that a construction lien will follow. Served at the right time on the right parties, it is the most effective demand you can send before registering a lien, and it gets you paid quickly.
Construction Lien Registrations
When an owner, contractor or subcontractor refuses to pay for work you performed, a registered lien is your strongest recourse: a legal claim against the title of the property. Under Ontario's Construction Act a lien must be registered on or before the 60th day after last supply or substantial completion. We register it correctly and on time.
Dispute Resolution
Few construction projects finish without a hitch. We work with the disputing parties to reopen communication and negotiate a resolution, so you avoid the time, cost and disruption of litigation. Most of our clients settle without ever going to court.
Land Title Searches
Confirm ownership, registered liens, mortgages and encumbrances on a property before you act, so you know exactly where you stand.
Corporate Searches
Verify a company's legal name, status and registered details before you extend credit, sign a contract or pursue payment.
Business Incorporations
Incorporate your business in Ontario with the filings handled correctly the first time.
Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Services
Swear affidavits, certify true copies and have documents commissioned or notarized at our Kitchener office.
Process Serving
Serve legal documents on the correct parties, properly and on the record, with proof of service you can rely on.
Court Filings
Prepare and file your court documents accurately and on deadline.
Lien On Us

For more than 25 years we have helped Ontario contractors, subcontractors and suppliers protect what they are owed before a deadline runs out.

Who we are
Masters of lien registrations. Better yet, of resolving them first.
Since opening, we have become masters of lien registrations, and more importantly, masters of resolving lien claims and payment disputes before a lien ever has to be perfected. Once a lien is perfected it leaves your hands and enters the hands of costly lawyers and a court system that can take years to resolve. We work closely with clients to provide construction legal services with the knowledge and experience to meet and exceed expectations, which is why our clients come back again and again. We are not a law firm; we are the legal-support specialists who keep your dispute out of one.

Good to know
Common questions
- What is a construction lien?
- A construction lien is a claim made against a property by a contractor or subcontractor who has not been paid for work done on that property. It encumbers the title, which makes the property difficult or impossible to sell or refinance until the claim is resolved. Anyone who supplies services or materials to an improvement has a lien on the premises for the price of that work, whether it was supplied to the owner, a contractor or a subcontractor.
- How long do I have to register a lien in Ontario?
- Under the Ontario Construction Act, a contractor generally must register their lien against the property on or before the 60th day after the date of last supply or substantial completion. Miss that window and the right to lien can be lost. Use our Lien Period Calculator, or call us, to confirm your exact deadline.
- What does a Notice of Intent to Lien actually do?
- A Notice of Intent to Lien is a formal warning sent to the parties on a project that a construction lien will be filed if payment is not made. When it is served at the right time on the appropriate parties, it is the most effective tool you have before registering a lien, and it often gets you paid without filing anything further.
- Are you a law firm?
- No. We are not a law firm and we do not provide legal advice the way lawyers do. We are construction-lien and legal-support specialists. Our goal is to resolve your claim before it ever needs a lawyer or the courts. If a matter does require a lawyer, we will tell you.
